The final session of Module 3 within the framework of the Erasmus+ project GUARD – Safeguarding Children in Sport was successfully held on 12 March at the Macedonian Olympic Committee, marking an important milestone in the national implementation of the project’s educational programme.
The training brought together representatives from various national sport federations, further demonstrating the growing recognition of safeguarding as a key priority within the sport system. Participants actively engaged in discussions on the importance of protecting children in sport, while reflecting on the concrete role that sport organisations and federations play in creating a safe, inclusive, and responsible sporting environment.
Commitment to Safe and Ethical Sport
The strong participation of federation representatives highlights a shared commitment to ensuring that children and young athletes can practice sport in a safe and supportive environment. Safeguarding is not only a responsibility but a fundamental value that underpins the integrity, sustainability, and positive impact of sport.
Through initiatives such as the GUARD project, sport organisations are taking concrete steps towards embedding safeguarding principles into their structures, policies, and daily practices.
A Step Forward in Building Sustainable Systems
The completion of Module 3 represents more than the conclusion of a training session — it is a step forward in building a long-term, sustainable safeguarding system within the national sport framework. Participants are now better equipped to take an active role in implementing safeguarding measures and contributing to the development of safer sport environments.
The protection of children remains a continuous commitment of sport organisations and a cornerstone for the development of healthy, ethical, and responsible sport systems.
