GUARD Project Team Meeting 3 Key Highlights

We are pleased to share key highlights from the third meeting of the EU-funded GUARD project, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing child safeguarding practices across Europe. Our diverse consortium, composed of dedicated partners from various sectors, is committed to advancing the project’s objectives through collaboration and innovation.

The meeting brought together all consortium members, fostering a productive dialogue on the project’s progress and future directions. Each partner contributed valuable insights, strengthening our collective efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the GUARD project.

WP2 System and Structure, Advice and Support

A major focus of our discussions was on the deliverables of Work Package 2 (WP2). We are excited to report that drafts of both documents have been confirmed in collaboration with all national stakeholders of the partners. This collaborative approach ensures that our outcomes are relevant and tailored to the needs of each participating country, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of our safeguarding initiatives.

Appointment of Child Safeguarding Officers

In line with our commitment to child safeguarding, each National Olympic Committee (NOC) has appointed a designated Child Safeguarding Officer. This key role will facilitate the implementation of safeguarding measures and ensure adherence to best practices across all partner organizations, marking a significant milestone in creating a national structure in each partner country.

WP3 Educational Modules Development

The meeting also included an in-depth discussion on the content of the educational modules. The consortium reviewed the proposed curriculum outline and discussed potential module dates, ensuring they align with the needs of our target audience. These modules will serve as vital resources for training and capacity building of national federations, equipping the appointed national federation child safeguarding officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote child safeguarding effectively.

Next Steps

Looking ahead, the next steps involve analysing the submitted WP3 proposals, followed by the allocation of consortium experts to specific topics related to curriculum development. This strategic approach will ensure that our educational materials are both comprehensive and effective. We aim to publish the confirmed dates for the educational modules by the end of this year, keeping all national stakeholders informed and engaged in the project timeline.

The GUARD project continues to make significant strides in creating a safer environment for children. We thank all consortium members for their dedication and collaborative spirit, and we look forward to sharing further updates as we progress.
